Festivals and Special Events around Mountain View, Arkansas

Plan on staying as busy as you like while visiting Mountain View. There are plenty of fun filled family activites throughout the year and festivals that appeal to music lovers, art connoisseurs, and fun loving folks in general. Most every festival or event seems to involve folk, mountain or bluegrass music in same way.

Beanfest & Great Championship Outhouse Races

Arkansas Folk Festival
The oldest festival is the 45th Annual Arkansas Folk Festival, held in the glorious spring, this year on April 19th - 21st, 2007. A highlight of this festival is an old fashioned "home-town" parade, which brings out school bands, patriotic veterans groups, dudded-up horses, and decorated floats of all sorts.

Beanfest and the Great Championship Outhouse Race!
If filling up on beans and cornbread and then cheering wildly decorated outhouses as they careen down the street sounds like fun, then the Beanfest and the Great Championship Outhouse Race, the last Saturday in October is for you. There is plenty of pickin' on the Square to be found during The Beanfest, in addition to a talent show, craft booths throughout town, and great beans & cornbread for all. [Click here for more...]

Bluegrass Festival
Bluegrass fans will find festivals devoted to this increasingly popular type of music in both mid-March and mid-November. The many activities of the Mountain View Bluegrass Festival are planned indoors, in case the weather chooses not to cooperate! Both Bluegrass festivals are developing a reputation for attracting top notch national music groups.

An Old Time Gathering on the Square
Mountain View celebrates our Fourth of July with an Old Time Gathering on the Square. Each year leading up to the Fourth Mountain View is home to parades, live music, fun games for families including a children’s fishing tournament and of course, FIREWORKS!

Caroling in the Caverns 2007
Blanchard Springs Caverns is the setting for Caroling in the Caverns, performed during the holidays, the first three weekends in December. Talented area musicians perform traditional carols in the cathedral like atmosphere. One visitor said it best, "I was underground, but never felt closer to heaven." The 2007 schedule will be announced later.
