Mountain View is a community that lives in both
the past and the present. The past represents the traditional music,
crafts, and culture of this Ozark Mountain community that its citizens
embrace and strive to keep alive. The future is the continued and
ongoing growth of this county seat, with emphasis on responsible
development.
An alive and vibrant Courtsquare features a working
courthouse, city, county & state offices; in addition to numerous
craft, gift and antique shops, and restaurants. All of this serves
as a backdrop to the informal "picking on the square"
that occurs just about every night during the season, mid-April
through the end of October.
Mountain View is fortunate to be located in an
extraordinarily beautiful part of the Arkansas Ozarks with many
natural resources, including crystal clear lakes and streams, the
Ozark National Forest, and the Blanchard Springs Caverns. These
resources encourage many outdoor activities year-round including:
fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking, camping, swimming, biking, and
caving.
The heart of Mountain View and its most precious
resource is its caring citizens. You will find folks who have lived
here all of their lives, as have their families, working alongside
folks who have moved here from all over the country. Men, women
& children volunteer a tremendous amount of their personal time
to give back to the community that offers them a high quality of
life.
Mountain View encourages the entrepreneurial
spirit of its citizens, honoring Farm Families of the Year and encouraging
others to support local businesses when possible. Yet the community
welcomes corporate involvement from the manufacturing corporations
that serve as the backbone of the Stone County Industrial Park.
An active work force in Stone County helps keep the economy strong
and unemployment low.
