Mountain View area citizens and visitors are
offered many local resources to insure quality health care for all
age groups. These resources include a Critical Access hospital,
numerous physicians & surgeons, ambulance & AirEvac service,
dental & optical care, rehabilitation services and elder care.
Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) is a 25-bed
Critical Access hospital providing primary inpatient and outpatient
healthcare services to Mountain View and the surrounding area. Hospital
services include; emergency room, general and orthopedic surgery,
radiology, clinical laboratory, blood bank, respiratory therapy,
pharmacy, and rehab therapy.
The physicians on the SCMC medical Staff include
seven family physicians and five specialists. Other facilities that
are a part of the SCMC system are: SCMC Home Health and Hospice,
and SCMC Home Medical Equipment.
SCMC is an affiliate of the White River
Health System, a regional healthcare provider serving an eight county
area of North Central Arkansas. The system includes two hospitals,
six Rural Health Clinics, two physicians' health offices, a home
health agency, and three nursing homes.

New Emergency Department, Inpatient Wing and Outpatient Surgery Wing Unveiled
Stone County Medical Center hosted dedication and ribbon cutting ceremonies July 12 for new emergency department, inpatient wing and outpatient surgery wing.
The new 44,978 square-foot project includes 22,914 square feet of new construction. The first phase added a new outpatient surgery wing and patient rooms on the north side of the hospital. Two of the rooms created a four-bed Intermediate Care unit with a nursing substation between them. Intermediate care is used when patients require a higher level of nursing care and supervision. Other renovations included conversion of some semi-private to private rooms and renovations to respiratory therapy, laboratory and pharmacy.
Phase two of the project created a new Emergency Department with a trauma room with two treatment cubicles, four exam rooms, nursing station, waiting area, and triage room. To better serve patients and visitors a new larger lobby, admissions area and gift shop were added to the hospital. Also included in phase two was the completion of patient room renovations and radiology renovations.
Final projects include the addition of a dining area, chapel, rehabilitation area, physician lounge and meeting room facilities.
Stone County Medical Center is a 25-bed primary care hospital serving the healthcare needs of Mountain View and Stone County as part of the White River Health System, a regional not-for-profit healthcare organization.
