Mountain View and Stone county continue to develop
their industrial capacity. Despite a sluggish economy across the
nation, we are holding on to existing businesses and adding new
ones. The Friendship Community Care Program has just purchased 2
acres at the Stone County Industrial Park and are planning to build
an 8,000 square foot building to be used with their work with the
disabled. They currently have 42 employees that work with existing
businesses in Stone County to finish or make their products.
The Mountain View Airport has just completed
expansion of its runway and the county has finalized the contracts
with a new propeller contractor, Mid-America Propeller, Inc. This
company should employ 10 to 15 new people and construction on the
facility should begin in the spring of 2004.
Ozarka College is finalizing the paperwork for
the building of their new campus in Mountain View. According to
County Judge Stacey Avey the bond issue has been approved by voters
and they plan to have the campus started in the Spring of 2004.
Mountain View has always been known for
its warm, friendly atmosphere and as a great vacation getaway. The
area is becoming known for its ability to treasure the ways of the
past while securing an economic future for its citizens. In addition
to several manufacturers located in and around the Stone County
Industrial Park, additional industry includes tourism, poultry production,
cattle and farming.
